Granite
A natural surface found mostly in mountainous areas. Granite is an igneous (volcanic) rock composed mostly of quartz, plagioclase, and alkali feldspar. Until this day, it is the preferred type of countertop material for kitchen and bathrooms. It is heat and scratch resistant, resists harsh chemicals, easily cleaned, and maintained. Sealer might be needed after installation.
Quartz
Combined with the best of natural stone with modern manufacturing, quartz countertops are made with amazing designs that are appealing to the eye. They are constantly updated for a superior look. Over the past year, quartz countertops have been the best option for homeowners which has resulted in lower pricing for granite due to the less demand it is now facing. Quartz countertops do not need sealing compared to granite. Does not get water stains easily and it is scratch resistant. They are NOT heat resistant due to the 10% of the material that is made of contains resin. Even though beautiful in design they can be up to more than double the price compared to granite.
Quartzite
Can be mistaken for being the same as quartz but is different. Quartzite is a pure, natural stone and its look comparable to granite or marble. It is resistant to heat, granite, or marble. It is resistant to heat, scratch resistant and resists harsh chemicals just like granite. Sealing is necessary after installation.
Marble
A type of natural stone, marble is metamorphic rock formed from recrystallized carbon. It has an incomparable look, with a classic veining on the surface. However, this type of countertop material comes with high maintenance or else that beauty will easily fade away. It can resist some heat but it is not recommended to allow it. Can easily scratch and stain. Regular maintenance will be necessary to keep it looking beautiful.
Porcelain
Made of 100% raw, natural, and clay-based materials. They are man-made to create a similar appearance to natural stone or marble. With the difference that is resistant to heat, scratch resistant and easily cleaned. It resists stains and harsh chemicals. It has a non-porous surface and also offers protection from exposure to weather unlike quartz and marble.
